Baby Doves
On Hayden's birthday, July 9th, we were singing him happy birthday and then a huge storm hit. I just happened to be filming, and we caught the storm on tape. We had just returned from eating at Chuy's for Hayden's birthday and all of a sudden it started to hail and within a minute a huge downwind came barreling through and knocked down half of our fence. It knocked down all of the Bradford Pear Trees in our neighborhood and even knocked a basketball hoop on a neighbor's corvette. Anyhow, as we were surveying the damage in the neighborhood in the aftermath of the storm, we noticed 2 baby, white-winged doves that had fallen out of the tree. We placed them on the bushes in front of our house on some towels. One lasted about four days, but the other one made it to adulthood. We still see it, from time to time. It will come and sit on the top of our roof or on the tree or bushes that were its home for a time. It took the dove about ten days to learn how to fly , and it had hardly any feathers when we found them. The dove brings a smile to my face every time I spot it.
