Cajun Cousins

Happy Birthday Von & Travor!! We Love You!!

Uncle Jeff

Rowan got into Grandma's Curlers

Hayden could spray them for hours...

Look what I caught!

Back in May, we went on a short trip to visit the boys' favorite cousins, Von & Travor, and Uncle Kent & Jeff in Louisiana. Grandma & Grandpa came, too, so we had the whole Turner side there. We were lucky enough to go see Travor perform as the Big Bad Woolf in The Little Red Riding Hood in French, and he was very good! The boys loved swimming with everybody in Kent's pool, too! I had fun when we went crabbing. Alls you have to do is tie a piece of raw chicken to a string and dangle it in the water, and you can catch a blue crab within seconds. We didn't keep any, but we stopped and bought fresh shrimp on the way home and had surf n turf for dinner. We also celebrated the twins' birthday (they turned 10). We love going to Louisiana, and we can't wait to go back! I'm sure you'll agree that I have the cutest nephews ever...

Fogo de Chao

The father of my two cute boys...

Kevin got the necklace for me, too.

Irene & Lou

Kevin and the Fried Polenta (bananas and delicious cheesy rolls, too).

For Mother's Day, Kevin took me on a date to Fogo de Chow-a Brazilian barbecue place, with Irene & Lou. http://www.fogodechao.com/ They have a delicious salad bar, and then you get all-you-can-eat Brazilian BBQ. These waiters will come around and serve you all types of meat that has been cooked around an open flame on skewers. It was De Li Cious. We topped it off with some Mango ice-cream (apparently, it helps to break down proteins). It's easy to see why I'm a mother when you see pics of how hot my hubby is ;) The last pic is of my hubby embarrassed after repeatedly asking the waiter for some more fried plantains. After much confusion between the two of them, we finally realize that it is fried Polenta, not Plantains. Kevin-I'll make fried Polenta or Plantains for you any day!!

Tribal Fusion

In April, we went to one of Molly's belly-dancing performances and had a lot of fun. Molly was really good. She does a form of belly dancing referred to as "tribal fusion" where the routines aren't choreographed. She has to watch her instructor for cues on what to do next.
Talk about nerve-wracking. Plus, sometimes her instructor will give a cue but then mess up and start the wrong sequence. Of course, you are supposed to follow her, no matter if she's right or wrong. The way they were standing on stage reminded me of a flock of seagulls in V formation-or was that the Mighty Ducks? Molly had Bunco at her house on Wednesday, and she had Arabian Nights as the theme, and she even gave us a private performance and let us dance, too. Youtube tribal fusion to see more... Youtube Drakon belly dance to see the gentleman in the top picture dance-he's the infamous Drakon, whom I've been lucky enough to watch twice now. He has a famous sword dance you can youtube, too.

Triple Wake Date

1st-To prepare for wake surfing, it's best to weigh down the back of the boat (some boats do this automatically), and sitting on the very back of the boat doesn't hurt either-and it gives you a great spectator spot.

2nd-this is Kevin in the water, getting ready for Rod to move the boat...

3rd-Kevin keeps hold of the rope until he is up and going...

4th -Once you get going, you can let go of the rope and ride the waves (I've seen Kevin sit down, stand up, turn around, all while riding the waves right behind the boat)...

5th-Eventually, the wave will get away from you, but you can wake surf quite a distance... Billy never made it past step 2, so unfortunately no picture of him, but below are the rest of us that tried)

Heather is a natural-and always smiling!

No Rope!

Rod is great at Water Sports, and other sports, too...

Me & My Hot Date

In April, we went on a "wake date" with the Dials and my sister Heather and her boyfriend, Billy. We went to Lake Austin and wake surfed until the sun went down. Then, we headed to The County Line for some delicious BBQ. Plus, the boat captain gets to eat free when you pull up via a watercraft. I've included some pics of Kevin that show the process of Wake Surfing for anyone who is unfamiliar with the sport. The only thing better than wake surfing, Lake Austin, and Texas BBQ, is getting to spend time with the Dials.

My brother Adam and his girlfriend Ally that we were finally able to meet.

My lovely parents (forgive my mother's sunglasses, please).

My sister Irene & Lou

What are those?

My very own mud bug.

Now those are some sunglasses!

In April, we had a crawfish boil at my brother Chad's house. My mom made a Crawfish-shaped cake (she's more of an artist than a baker, but the cake was still great!). There were hundreds of pounds of crawfish, Kevin made a few washer sets, the boys liked playing with the live crawfish, my brother's friend brought authentic Tom Yum (delicious Thai soup) with the hottest peppers I've ever tasted, there was a cool hand washer, and what's a party without port-a-potties. I think we ended up calling it The First Annual Crawfish Boil by the end of the night in anticipation for next year...
